Here is what’s coming up in October!
 

2-4 I.O.U.S.A. The Panida Theater hosts the film I.O.U.S.A., a documentary on the American financial crisis, at 7:30 p.m. each night as part of the Global Cinema Café. I.O.U.S.A. boldly examines the rapidly growing national debt and its consequences for the United States and its citizens. Tickets are $7 adults, $6 seniors and students. 4 Keeping North Idaho Natural. The Idaho Conservation League sponsors the 12th annual Wild Idaho North! conference entitled Keeping North Idaho Natural. The event will be held at the Sandpoint Business and Events Center at Pine and Euclid, from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Keynote speaker Dennis Glick, the northern Rockies regional director of the Sonoran Institute, will address the topic of "growing smarter in the Northern Rockies." 4 Priest River Oktoberfest. Come celebrate the 1st annual Oktoberfest event in Priest River from noon to 8 p.m. in downtown Priest River. 10 Sandpoint Senior Center Dinner and Auction. The Sandpoint Senior Center hosts its third annual dinner and auction to help offset the cost of their senior meal program. Dinner begins at 5 p.m. at a cost of $15, and an auction follows at 7 p.m., including both live and silent bidding. The event is open to the public. To donate money or auction items, or to purchase dinner tickets, stop by the Senior Center at 820 Main St., or call 208-263-6860.

10-11 All Bonner County Bazaar. This year's annual arts and crafts festival and sale at the Sandpoint Community Hall is presented by Beta Sigma Phi. Hidden Valley Worship Center will be preparing food available for purchase, and hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 10, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 11. 208-263-6326

10-11 Plein Air Art Event. The Friends of Scotchman Peaks Wilderness, along with Timber Stand Gallery in Sandpoint and Outskirts Gallery in Hope, host a Plein Air event celebrating the Scotchman Peaks Wilderness. On October 10, the Timber Stand Gallery will have a wine and cheese reception from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. showcasing the plein air paintings by local and regional artists that highlight the Scotchman Peaks. On October 11, the event will carry over to the Outskirts Gallery from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. Fueled by the spectacular beauty of the wilderness in the fall, the skill of our local and regional artists, and the strong support the Scotchmans have in our community, organizers hope to see this become an annual event to help raise awareness about the peaks. 208-263-7748

13 Kalispel Tour of the Lake. Lake Pend Oreille Cruises and The Idaho Mythweaver present a special chartered trip in the Hope and Clark Fork delta areas of Lake Pend Oreille aboard the Shawnodese from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. (board at 1:45 p.m.), leaving from Kramer Marina in East Hope. Special guest and tour guide, Kalispel spiritual elder and tribal cultural director Francis Cullooyah, will highlight the Kalispel history and way of life inextricably linked to Lake Pend Oreille and the Clark Fork River for countless generations. The trip is a fundraiser for the non-profit organization The Idaho Mythweaver, with proceeds going towards the digitization and preservation of its tape archive of Native American oral histories. 15 Five Minutes of Fame. Join other blossoming or seasoned poets, musicians and songbirds for monthly open mic night at Cafe Bodega in Foster's Crossing. Sign up to perform from 6:15 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Show begins promptly at 6:30 p.m. No cover charge and open to all ages. Five Minutes of Fame happens the third Wednesday of each month. 208-263-5911

16-18 The Importance of Being Earnest. Sandpoint High School's Mime & Masque presents the play The Importance of Being Earnest, written by Oscar Wilde, at 7 p.m. each night in the SHS auditorium.

31-Nov. 1 Fall Festival of Fair Trade. Lost Horse Press and the Northwest Fair Trade Network host a Fall Festival of Fair Trade, happening Friday, Oct. 31, from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m., and Saturday, Nov. 1, from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. at Sandpoint Community Hall. The festival is a market for fair trade goods from around the world - fair trade is a growing movement that promotes alternative approaches to conventional international trade. The Fall Festival of Fair Trade will feature fairly traded goods - sweaters, textiles, clothing, baskets, tea and coffee, jewelry, leather goods, books, pottery, handmade paper, toys, musical instruments and a diversity of exotic gifts - from Mexico, Africa, Guatemala, Chile, Ghana, Thailand, Burma, Nepal, Tibet and Laos, as well as a selection of handmade goods by local artists and craftspeople. 28-29 Hills Resort Arts and Crafts Show. Hills Resort in Priest Lake presents its 23rd annual 'Tis the Season Arts and Crafts Show. Hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 28, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 29. The show features distinctive and original creations, and many handcrafted Christmas gifts. Nationally known cartoonist and author Boots Reynolds will be signing copies of his collector's cookbook, "Boots 'n' Beans," from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday.
